1. kick ass 了不起 　A: Wow, you fixed my computer in less than 10 minutes. You're good。

　A: 哇! 你不到十分鐘就把我的計算機修好了呀! 你很棒!

　B: Yep. I just kick ass。

　B: 是的! 我就是厲害!

　"kick ass" 除了字面上的“踢屁股”外， 還有“厲害、打敗”的意思。當“踢屁股”時， 比如某人放你鴿子， 你很氣，就可以說： "I'm going to kick his ass." (我得踢他的屁股)。當“厲害”用時，就像上面例句一樣用。"kick ass" 還可作“打敗某人的意思”。比如某人一向在某方面比你強， 終于有一天你比他厲害了，你就可以說："Hahaha...I kicked your ass."。覺得 "ass" 太難聽的人， 就用 "butt"吧!

　注： 改作形容詞就變成ass kicking. 你可以說， wow, this new trick is ass kicking. 或者說， this is an ass kicking trick. Kick somebody's ass有給某人一個教訓的意思。

　2. kiss ass 拍馬屁

　A: Mary, I'm sorry for cheating on you before. Do you see any chance that we can get back together?

　A: Mary, 我真的很抱歉對你不忠實。你想我們可不可能重修舊好呢?報關員

　B: I don't know, but you can kiss my ass。

　B: 不知道， 不過你可以親我的屁屁(巴結我)。

　注： Kiss somebody's ass 是拍馬屁的意思， 但是在這句話里的意思是"你就做夢去吧",也就是"你去死吧". 馬屁精顯然就是ass kisser

　3. XYZ 檢查你的拉鏈

　Hey, man. XYZ。

　老兄啊! 檢查一下你的拉煉吧。

　"XYZ" 是 "Check your zipper." 的意思。在美國，填表選項時多用打“X”來表示(臺灣則用打勾表示)。這個選項的動作就叫"Check", 也就是這里的XYZ 的 X所代表的。Y 是Your, Z 就是 Zipper 啰!

　4. Hit the road. 上路了

　A: Do you want to come in for some tea?

　A: 你要不要進來喝個茶呢?

　B: No. I'm running late. I really need to hit the road。

　B: 不了。我快遲到了， 得上路了。

　"running late" 是快遲到了的意思。

　"Hit the road" 的 "hit" 有“去”的意思。好比某人每周去健身房三次， 你就可以說 "He hits the gym three times a week."。

　"I really need to hit the road." 還可以用說成"I really need to get going."。

　5. hang out 和朋友在一起

　A: I don't know what is going on lately. Jack seems to curse a lot these days。

　A: 不知道最近 Jack 怎么搞的。 他經常口出惡言。

　B: Well, that's just what you get from hanging out with the wrong crowd。

　B: 嗯， 交錯了朋友就是這樣啊!

　"hang out" 是和朋友一起做一些事?？措娪?、逛街、聊天都算。也不限指異性朋友。

　注： 你可以問你的朋友， Hey, what did you guys do this weekend。你的朋友可以說， well, nothing special. we just hung out. 這個意思就是， 也沒干什么，就是呆著。

　6. click (兩人)合得來

　I really like talking to her. I think we two really click。

　我很喜歡和她說話。我覺得我們兩個蠻合得來的。

　好玩的字吧! 不過 click 不一定只用在異性之間。朋友之間的頻率相同也可以用。

　注： 當兩個人不click的時候， 你通?？梢哉f， I don't know...but the chemistry doesn't seem right. chemistry 這里指的是兩個人不來電， 指同性異性都可以。

　7. suck 差勁 ;糟透了

　A: Guess what? We've just now missed the bus, and the next onewon't come for another 45 minutes。

　A: 知道嗎? 我們剛好錯過公車了; 下一班(車)還要四十五分鐘才會來。

　B: That sucks。

　B: 真遜!

　"suck" 是“差勁”的意思。 "That movie sucks." 是“那部電影真是糟透了”的意思。

　注： 倒霉東西當然就是sucker.。.你可以說 these files are a mess! it is gonna take forever to sort out these suckers. sucker通常不指人。

　8. catch some Zs 小睡一下

　A: Excuse me. I have to catch some Zs。

　A: 抱歉! 我想小睡一下。

　B: I thought you just woke up. Sleepy head。

　B: 我以為你才剛睡醒。愛睡蟲。

　漫畫里 的人睡覺， 不是都畫"Z,Z,Z..."來表示嗎? 這里的"catch some Zs" 就是這樣來的。"I have to catch some Zs." 也可以說"I have totake a nap." 或 "I need to snooze."。

　注： 對不起， 我剛剛睡著了. 可以說， oops, I just dozed off。

　9. take a dump 上大號

　A: Would you mind closing the door? I'm trying to take a dump here。

　A: 你可不可以把門關起來呢? 我正在上大號。

　B: Well, learn to lock the door next time。

　B: 那么下次學會把門鎖起來吧!

　"dump" 是“丟掉”的意思， “丟”什么不必我解釋了吧?

　“我要上廁所”(大小號都一樣) 可以說 "I need to use the restroom." 或簡單地說 "I need to go."。

　注： dump也有垃圾堆的意思. 你可以說， I can't believe you actually live here! It is a dump! --你住的地方真爛. 但是， take a dump是一種比較粗俗的說法， 一般男性多用。通常大家會說 #1 或者 #2, 跟我們的說法一樣。

　想去上廁所， 你可以說， mother nature is calling?；蛘哒f的文雅一點--I am going touse the facility. facility 這里指的就是restroom. 在別人家里， 你通常會問， may I use the bathroom? bathroom這里就是廁所的意思。

　10. crank up 把聲量調大

　A: Hey! The volume is too low. Why don't you crank it upsome?

　A: 嘿! 這聲量太小了。你把它調大一點好嗎?

　B: No problem。

　B: 沒問題。

　這里的“聲量調大”也可以說 "turn it up"。意思是一樣的。

　cranky 則是形容人暴躁、易生氣。如： "Why are you so cranky today? Something happened?" 你今天怎么這么容易生氣? 發(fā)生什么事了嗎?

　注： 和cranky同義的詞是grumpy. I am being grumpy because I didn't sleep well last night。
