　Accordingtothepowertheprincipalhasdelegatedtoasellingagent,theagentmayjustintroducethepotentialcustomertotheprincipaloractuallynegotiateandconcludethecontractbetweenthetwoparties.Thehavethefollowingcharacteristics:

　a)Anagentcanonlyoperatewithinthemarketingterritoryauthorizedbytheprincipal.

　b)Anagentdoesnotcarrystock.Thegoodsarecarriedonlyasconsignmentinventory.Paymentisbasedondeliverytotheultimatebuyer.

　c)Theprincipal(exporter)settheretailprice,retainstitleandcontrolsthegoods.

　d)Theprofitandriskoflossremainswithintheprincipal,unlesstheagentisadelcredereone.

　e)Agentsareusuallypaidwithcommission.
